all transmitted signals is less than 5% of the time each second and less than 0.5% of the
time each hour, and provided that each transmitted signal does not exceed 5 milliseconds.
Equipment using ultra-wideband technology may also be allowed to use the radio spectrum
with EIRP limits other than those set out in Table 34.3 provided that appropriate mitigation
techniques are applied with the result that the equipment achieves at least an equivalent
level of protection to that provided by the limits in set out in Table 34.3.

34.2.4 UWB Definitions
UWB wavelets or pulses are bursts of electromagnetic energy wherein the wavelet duration
in time is inversely related to its occupied bandwidth. For example, a 1 ns wavelet occupies
1 GHz of spectrum, a 2 ns pulse occupies 500 MHz; while a 0.13 nanosecond pulse
instantaneously occupies 7.5 GHz of spectrum. Examples of these UWB pulse and their
spectra are shown in Figure 34.2. The ???zero crossing??? rate of a wavelet determines where
the center frequency of the spectrum wavelet bandwidth will appear.
