Existing networks built on DSL,
cable modems and 3G Wireless networks provide bandwidth to large number of users.
Other users are used to traditional dial-up, T1 services or Public Safety networks. The
Municipal Network will need to compete with these existing networks. In general, the
business plans for these networks rely on both ???new users??? and taking users from existing
networks.
This chapter has focused on the services that will be offered on the Municipal
Wireless Network. Network operators will need to determine which set of services is right
for their specific network. These services will have to be structured to create success -- a
success measured by a positive ROI.
The network also must have built-in flexibility as the services offered are likely to
change over time. Juniper Networks provides solutions that deliver those requisite levels of
flexibility. We have built IP networks for the world??™s leading carriers and governments to
meet the strictest of standards. As such, we anticipate supporting Municipal Wireless
Networks by building secure and assured networks.
